We all are fighters in the real life. So let’s face the water damage situation also bravely. If the water damage is a big one then for its removal it is wise to call up a water damage restoration company. But if it’s a minor one then like a soldier be on your foot. Here are 5 tips that will help you to quickly overcome & handily handle water damage restoration task.

* Get protective clothing for yourself. It must have gloves, respiratory marks, boots and full sleeves clothing to prevent any health risk. Before you start the work, see that you have the right equipment like mop, and towels. Use a disinfectant for cleaning the floors, walls and other hard surfaces.

* Next step is to separate all the dry things from wet ones. Put the wet ones in the open air for drying. May be for time being you can keep the wet items in the plastic bag. But for god’s sake keep the bag open otherwise there will be foul smell and you there are higher chances of mold contamination.

* To avoid mold or mild dew contamination it is necessary to reduce the humidity & excessive moisture. For this open all the windows and doors if possible. Check out the appliances. If your dehumidifier is working fine & there is no water, then switch it on. It will completely eliminate the risk of mold and mild dew contamination.

* If there has been any damage to the home structure / object has broken, then completely dry the object. If there is debris them just remove them and do not repair the place immediately. Let it dry, this will provide strength to the existing structure.

* If important papers have been damaged then very lightly remove the water and let them dry. For cleaning the frames and mats, just use clean water to get rid off mud. If there are some patches visible then let them dry. At times they disappear when the stuff dries.
