Tips for repair wall water damage

A good an enticing color or pattern on wall attracts our attention instantly. Similarly, a discolored patch on wall is also quickly noticed. Especially if there has been water pipe leakage or the damage on the wall has been done due to flood/ hurricane, then it the wall is wet and gives a faded look.

As soon as you witness the wall water damage look out for the size of area that has been damaged. If there is major damage then call a water damage restoration service provider. If it’s a minor one then you can treat the damage yourself. Here are the tips that will guide you to successful repair of wall water:

1) Isolate the area from the rest of wall and see the source that has damaged the wall. If it’s a water pipe, then fix the damage immediately.

2) Let the portion dry. For quick drying of wall you can use a dehumidifier or a fan to circulate the air. This will help in removing the moisture from the wall.

3) Closely monitor the drying process for 12 hours. If any moisture is there then isolate the wall by cutting the portion & replace it using studs. You can also install a plyboard over it & then studs. Nail it

4) Then carefully apply the joint mix using the special knife called “putty knife”.

5) Smooth down the mixture and see that there are no depressions left on the wall. This will assist in preventing any future damage.

6) Fix a tape over it and paint the wall using the right color.
